New procedure for arrival and dismissal
The circle drive at Stevenson has changed for arrival and dismissal. To clear the congestion and keep students safe, we have new procedures to implement.
All students will enter the building at 7:45 am at the east wing (Door #10) of the building, the kindergarten wing.
When students enter the building, they will either go to breakfast or the playground before beginning their school day. At 8:00am, they will head to their classroom. If you arrive at or after 8:10, please park your car and come in the front entrance to sign your child in. Do not stop your car in the circle drive, or idle near the front entrance.
Please explain to your child HOW they go home from school each day. Your student must know daily how he/she will go home. They can be a bus rider, a walker, or car rider. Car riders and walkers will be picked up from the EAST door (Kindergarten wing), and bus riders will exit through the main doors. To ease with pickup, we will be sending home name plates to hang on your visor. Please put your child’s first name on it and display it in the window to assist quick dismissal.
If you drive your child to school in a car, we suggest that you stay in the car and enter the circle drive. One of our staff members in a yellow vest will help your child exit the car, if needed. DO NOT leave your car when in the line. If your child needs help getting out of the building, please roll down your window and ask one of the staff members to help your child.
If you come from the WEST side of town, please park your car along 15th Street and walk your student to Mr. Mike at the front entrance. Please use the crosswalk in the MIDDLE of the circle drive to safely navigate the circle drive. Our staff members will safely get your child to their classroom.
The lot on the EAST side of the building is for staff parking. Please do not enter the staff parking lot to drop off your child. Park along Michigan St and use the crosswalk in that lot to enter at door 10. All walkers must be picked up before cars can exit the lot. This lot is being used for pickup of walkers and can’t safely accommodate in and out traffic.
