On December 5th, Stevenson and York Center schools hosted their Multicultural Night at Stevenson school. The event began with remarkable student speakers who shared their cultures and poems about themselves. After the speeches, our Stevenson & York Center communities showcased their multicultural talent through musical performances in Tagalog, Hmong, Urdu, Hindi, Arabic, and Spanish featuring traditional and contemporary dances that represented their cultures. Parents read books in Arabic, Ukrainian, Spanish, and Polish languages while simultaneously participating in multicultural art activities. Students melodiously sang the patriotic song “This Land is My Land” that depicted harmony for both the schools.
Parents, students, and staff members had beautiful henna done on their hands. Our Lion families had a wonderful opportunity to wear their traditional outfits representing their cultures. All the students received multicultural passports as they learned about each other’s cultures that our schools represent. It was a very heartwarming event and it was indeed a marvelous adventure of different cultures that our lion communities represent.
Thank you to all the students and families who participated in this wonderful event and made it a memorable one. Thank you to all the staff members who were able to attend it and volunteered to supervise this event. Thank you to Mrs. Sitrick for preparing and coaching our choir in this event. Thank you to Mrs. Qazi for organizing and leading the event this year again.
