Each morning at Stevenson, the air is buzzing with excitement. Students arrive, grinning from ear to ear, clutching a few coins in their hands. Their eyes light up as they head straight for Ms. Loconte, eager to drop their coins into the collection box—either to boost their own classroom’s chances or, perhaps, to “sabotage” a rival. Why all the fuss? It’s all part of the race to raise money for our upcoming movie night! The winning grade level will earn the privilege of choosing the movie for the evening.
For the past two weeks, second grade held the lead, but now, Kindergarten is charging ahead with first grade hot on their heels. As one kindergartner excitedly declared, “This is the best game ever!”
This spirited competition goes beyond just the grade levels—it’s a friendly rivalry between York Center and Stevenson schools as well. Every morning, Principal Dr. DuBois updates the school on the standings, and classrooms erupt in cheers of encouragement.
The race is on—stay tuned for the final results!
