Families from Stevenson and York Elementary Schools came together Thursday evening, April 17, for a cozy and laughter-filled Movie Night, an annual tradition that continues to bring the school community closer together.
This year’s movie selection, The Emoji Movie, was chosen by the 2nd-grade classes, who earned the honor after winning the spirited Penny Wars fundraiser. Their hard work paid off as students and families filled the school gym, bringing along pillows, blankets, and favorite stuffed animals to enjoy the show in comfort.
Hosted by the collaborative efforts of the York Center/Stevenson PTA, the event featured more than just a movie. A lively concessions stand served up kid-favorite treats including candy, popcorn, pizza, and a variety of refreshments.
A photo station with fun props added a memorable touch, giving families the chance to capture silly snapshots before settling in for the film. Laughter, smiles, and the scent of popcorn filled the air as students lounged on the floor with friends and family.
“The kids were so excited—not just to watch the movie, but because they got to choose it. They felt like movie night was theirs,” said one PTA member. “It’s really about creating those special moments where school feels like home.”
Movie Night once again proved to be a beloved event, reminding everyone that the best memories are made when the community comes together.
